Google is introducing new “switching tools” for its Gemini chatbot that let users import personal data and past conversations from rival AI assistants, as the company works to make it easier to adopt its platform.
The company said the feature is rolling out to consumer accounts and allows users to transfer key personal details—such as preferences, relationships, and background information—into Gemini without starting from scratch. To do this, Gemini provides a prompt that users can enter into another chatbot, which then generates a summary that can be copied back into Gemini for storage.
